Cortinarius magnivelatus is a mushroom on its way to becoming a truffle (but it's
not as far along as Thaxterogaster pingue). C. magnivelatus still has a stem and
exposed gills, but it never gets aboveground. The gills are also somewhat contorted
and are starting to think about fusing into chambers (called locules in truffles).
