Calvatia fumosa is actually a puffball, but is often found underground and resembles a truffle. The
gooey interior dries into a dusty spore mass as it matures. This species of Calvatia has a particularly foul
odor (like a wet dog with dirty sweatsocks) and can reach several inches in diameter.
