An interesting aspect of Rhizopogon ater is that the gleba turns entirely green
when mounted in potassium hydroxide (KOH). This is a thin section, about 1/4 inch
from left to right, on a microscope slide in KOH. The reddish-brown rind at the top is
the peridium.
